Charles B.  "Chuck" Howard

Charles B. “Chuck” Howard, 83, of Janesville passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home.
Charles was born on July 26, 1929, the son of Frank and Florence (Bancroft) Howard.  He grew up on the family farm in Harmony Township and graduated from Janesville High School in 1947.  Charles married Ila Walker on November 11, 1951 in Beloit. He served in the U.S. Army from September 29, 1952 to September 28, 1954 and was stationed in Kentucky. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to work on the family farm  until 1965 when the family moved into Janesville. Prior to his retirement, Charles was employed as a truck driver by Interstate Motor Freight.  He was a member of Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where he was a former Sunday School Superintendent and was active with the Wednesday Morning Breakfast Group.
Surviving are four children, Karen (Hal) Van Tuyl of Janesville, Bruce Howard of Janesville, Rex (Barbara) Howard of Strum, WI, Jeff (Deb) Howard of Janesville, nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ila Howard, on January 1, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul Howard and Glenn Howard and two sisters, Gladys Wicklund and Jean Schwengels.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church, 8605 East County Road A, Janesville. Pastor Jamie Swanson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13th at the church. Military rites will be performed by Kienow-Hilt V. F. W. Post # 1621. Private interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
